Marc Nicholas Rice, a respected Wall Street executive and longtime member of New York City’s financial community, has died at the age of 56. According to information shared by those close to him, Rice passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 16, 2026, in the Bronx, New York. While his passing has been confirmed, no official cause of death has been publicly disclosed.

Rice built a distinguished career in finance that spanned more than three decades, earning the admiration of colleagues and industry professionals for his expertise, leadership, and dedication to the investment world. He most recently served as Managing Director and Co-Head of Convertible Bond Trading at Oppenheimer & Co. Inc., where he spent nearly 20 years helping lead the firm’s fixed-income trading operations through changing market conditions.

A graduate of Skidmore College with a degree in Business and Managerial Economics, Rice demonstrated leadership early in life as president of the Business-Economics Club and further expanded his academic experience through a study-abroad program at the London School of Economics. Prior to joining Oppenheimer, he held senior positions at CIBC Capital Markets, ABN AMRO Bank N.V., Lazard Capital Markets, and Kidder Peabody, establishing himself as one of the industry’s respected specialists in convertible bond trading.

Outside of his professional accomplishments, Rice was remembered for his intellectual curiosity and appreciation for literature, economics, history, and international travel. Friends and coworkers often described him as a generous mentor who took pride in guiding younger professionals while maintaining humility and integrity throughout his career.

He is survived by his extended family, close friends, and numerous colleagues whose lives were positively influenced by his mentorship and leadership. A memorial gathering is expected to be announced in the coming days, with his final resting place planned at Woodlawn Crematory in the Bronx.
